Gabriel Loumeau is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Spatial Economics at VU Amsterdam. His research studies the causes and consequences of urban and regional development. His recent published work has examined urban policies to accommodate the global rise in urbanization, the economic effects of regional transport network integration, and the optimal location of public facilities.
Dr. Loumeau obtained his Dr. Sc. from ETH Zurich in 2019. His doctoral thesis was honored as an outstanding dissertation and received the ETH Medal in November 2020. Before joining the faculty at VU Amsterdam in 2023, he was Post-Doc at the Chair of Public Economics at ETH Zurich.
